Alfred Francis Rick, 70, of Newington, beloved husband of Paula (Tanasi) Rick passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017. Al was born on July 5, 1946 in Hartford and was the son of the late Alfred J. and Patricia J. (Cusanelli) Rick. Al grew up in Hartford, graduated Bulkeley High School, served proudly in the U.S. Army. Al worked for 37 years at the U.S. Postal Service. He was the president of the Army and Navy club of Manchester. Al loved his sports and was a huge fan of the NY Giants and the Baltimore Orioles.In addition to his wife, Al leaves behind his sons: Mark J. Rick and his wife Amy of Boynton Beach, FL. and Jason A. Rick of Jacksonville, FL. He also leaves behind his brother Richard J. Rick and his wife Le ann, his nieces; Kimberly Lavender and April Alexander, nephews; David Edelwich and Michael Edelwich and his great nephews; Toby Lavender, Ryan Lavender and Max Alexander. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9 a.m.at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church Street, Newington. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 930 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
